Few people are aware that at one time the sport of cricket, which is now watched and played by hundreds of millions worldwide, was a major sport on the East Coast, the hub being Philadelphia! Germantown is still known as one of the premier cricket grounds in the nation, and each spring the Club is a host venue for the Philadelphia International Cricket Festival, a charity event featuring teams from the U.S. and around the globe. During autumn, the famous rivalry among local area clubs is revived with the Halifax Club is contested.
